FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How is coaching different from counseling or therapy?

Coaching is all about moving forward in your life today – regardless of what may have happened to you in the past. Coaching is about taking action, being held accountable and following through.

Therapy and counseling serve a specific purpose in healing old wounds, pain and dysfunction. The focus is resolving past issues that are interfering with an individual’s present life in one or multiple ways.

What kinds of clients do you serve?

I coach men, women and teens from a variety of backgrounds and professions:

who have personal and/or professional goals and want support in attaining them.
who know what they want to change or add to their life and are looking for a partner to get there
who aren’t clear what they want to change or add to their life, yet are willing to figure out what that is
who are willing to explore and unravel things that keep them from they want
who are willing to commit to the process and make themselves and coaching a priority in their life

How does the coaching process work?

First Steps

An initial complimentary informational session is helpful to determine if you are ready to begin coaching and if I’m the right coach for you. This is the time to ask questions and talk about what you want to accomplish through coaching.

Telephone versus In-Person
The majority of coaching is done over the telephone. This gives you the flexibility to call from the privacy of your home, office or any other location that has access to a telephone.

If you live within the U.S., you call me for your sessions. You are responsible for any long distance charges.

If you live outside the U.S., the session can be conducted via Skype. If you do not have Skype access, you can choose to call into a U.S. conference line that I will provide and you will be responsible for any long distance charges.

If you live locally and prefer to meet in person, contact me to discuss options.

Ready to Coach
Once you’ve decided you want to start coaching, we will discuss how often you want to meet; length of time and payment options. I do not require that you commit to a minimum number of sessions, although I do offer a discount if you are paying for six or more sessions at once. Coaching is most beneficial with 2 – 4 sessions per month. You can choose 50 minute or 25 minute sessions.

Prior to your first session, you will receive a coaching agreement and questionnaire. The questionnaire will allow you to provide background information as well as gain clarity in what you want to accomplish through coaching. We will review this together to gain further clarity and design a program to meet your needs.

What if something comes up in between sessions?
I offer e-mail support in between sessions.

What can I expect of my coach?

As your coach, I will…

Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Listen to what you say and don’t say.
Ask you powerful and thought provoking questions.
Share with you objective observations.
In conjunction with you, create homework or assignments that apply to your specific goals.
In conjunction with you, brainstorm and plan to bring you towards your goals.
Be your sounding board.
Encourage you to take risks and move through fear.
Celebrate with you your growth and accomplishments.

What does my coach expect of me?

That you bring your agenda to each coaching session.
That you take responsibility for your choices.
Your willingness to take risks and actions that are aligned with what you want to change or add in your life.
Your commitment to the coaching process and what you want to accomplish.
That you communicate if you are not getting what you want from the coaching relationship.
